This is it! This is the end of one of our favorite titles we've scanlated. It saddens me that such a good series is this short but I'm just happy that Hosomura-san and Snacks finally found happiness. 

We've enjoyed working on this a lot. I hope you've had as much fun reading it as we did. 

We're looking for something that has the same vibe now but until then we're working on two Darker than BLACK Official Fanbook short stories.

This story was such a joy to follow and work with. While it got heavy at times, the story flowed well and ended on a satisfying note.

Rebel and I think this series is live action material; I'm certainly looking forward to their casting of Snacks if it does happen!

Side Comment:

When we started this I remember discussing how we would go about this series with Shoreijuu. When it came to SFXs, we weren't going to do it. it fact, chapter 4, which is the first chapter we scanlated of this series, didn't have translated SFXs. but then I thought about it some more and I decided that, in this series, SFXs are important especially when it comes to Snacks moving around as well as various SFXs in bubbles which would look bad if they were untranslated. So we decided to start translating those too. I guess, what I'm saying is: I REGRET MY DECISION! I HATE SFXs. That's all. Thank you very much.

Chapter 08: Choco Banana Bread Pudding of Effort

It's been 2 months since the previous chapter! I'm sure you guys missed Snacks! 

Notes:

I think in previous chapters we sort of alternated (unintentionally) between "Snack" and Snacks" as the cat's name. We settled on "Snacks."

You may notice I'm not very consistent with how I typeset the SFXs. Sometimes, I go all the way but most times, I just half-ass it! That's because I'm too lazy and it doesn't help that I have a slow PC that really gets on my nerves. 

I also want to ramble about the font choices! It'd be great to fit different fonts to different situations. However, I prefer simplicity. I only change fonts when the font changes in the RAW. I try my best to match the look; it doesn't always work out. Sometimes, I go full minimalistic and use only ONE font. I trust that the expressiveness of the bubble types will do the trick!

In this chapter, I think I overdid it. I enjoyed working on it though; that's all that matters!

UPDATES:

So I'm back at work now and that means less time for scanlation unfortunately. But we're not stopping. Shoreijuu will keep translating Hosomura-san and she has plans for a second title after that, too. 

I, however, can't finished Mokke and FMPA. I only have up til volume 3 of Mokke so until I acquire the rest, Mokke is on hold. but if there's a JP/ENG translator out there who wants to help, please email us. As for FMPA, I'm dropping that for good. I'm done with that!

There's one more title which I don't want to drop because there's only 1 volume left to completion which is Tenshi-chan to Akuma-kun. Please if you're an JP/ENG translator and interested in that, contact us. 

Kansokusha Tamami is just filler-releases until I receive the new title I'm planning on translating during the next few months. I don't want to name it yet but it's only 2-volume series. it's short enough to be able to finish it. I'm sick of starting series and not being able to finish them!!! it's the Manga Syndrome curse!! That's why we're not picking up long series anymore!

Chapter 04: Eating a Simple Hamburger with a Cat

Here's our new project. As I have mentioned in a previous post, If we were to go back to scanlation, it had to be for a title we both enjoy and have fun working on. We're not the ones who started this series and to be honest I'm sort of glad it's been dropped by the other group. It's like it's been created for us!

You can read the first 3 chapters at Mangadex. The previous group did such a good job typesetting this that I wanted to keep the same fonts or at least, the same expressive feel. But I am not that skilled. I spent hours trying to make it work but in vain. In the end, I opted for my own minimalist approach. I think it looks good though. 

I really hope you enjoy reading this title as much as we did. 

Next release will probably be Mokke chapter 17.

Okay, so here’s the deal. I have plans/time to complete volume 3 which means up to chapter 18. I will probably release one chapter per 2 weeks. Then I’ll be done with Mokke.

Manga Syndrome is a two-person team Shoreijuu (JP/ENG translator) and myself, Rebel, (editor and FR/ENG translator). This scanlation group experience is important for us. Sure, we’ve left it behind for quite a long time but even now when we remember it, it’s with warmth and nostalgia. That’s why we decided to go for what might be a last run. We picked a manga that we both will have fun working on. We don’t know for how long we will be doing this and we certainly won’t be ruining our fun by worrying about releases and such. The process and the idea of Manga Syndrome are the only things that we’re back for.

Having said that, it doesn’t mean there won’t be any releases! We will take our time and when each chapter is done, you’ll find it here as usual.

I was living under a rock for the past year. I only knew that batoto closed when I tried to upload this chapter there a couple of days ago!

I left this whole thing behind but this chapter was halfway done when I blew the digital dust off of it a week ago so I thought "what the hell!" I'll finish it.
